Mobile Choice

Welcome, to my new Blog, Mobile choice. This is the first post of the new blog, all other content you see has been imported from my Nseries blog, which has been neglected recently, a bit like Nseries mobiles in general, really.

You see, I was always a fan initially of the S60 operating system, have been since the Nokia 7650 onwards. When the Nseries range became available, I was impressed with the vision of creating a multimedia focussed device, based on a sound operating system, offering top end media rich content and features. Sounded ideal!

But, recently, Nokia have shown a real lack of innovation on Nseries handsets, and the product is starting to become very tired indeed. Oh, the range is still impressive, but kinda stagnant, really. For so long it has been possible to run the spec of a new Nseries device before the product even launches! All the features will be there, Bluetooth, email, web, GPS, WiFi, camera, etc, but there was little innovation. I mean, how long has Nokia been running a "5.0 Megapixel camera, with LED flash, autofocus, and Carl Zeiss lens". Mobile imaging includes such features as smile detection, face detection, image stablisation, blink detection, best shot option, and so on. What about the video recording? Where's the different recording options? 120fps, super slow motion, higher resolution? Where's the improved media player? Where's built in support for DivX and XviD?

And there's more, surely.

So, now with my new blog, I'm looking at a wider picture, the mobile market as a whole. Fresh new content, operating systems, smartphone challenges to the established leaders, products that are different, unique, compelling, showing that there is still innovation in the industry, and room for growth and change.

There's plenty of development to come, and I'm throwing myself into the middle of it, offering my own thoughts and opinions on whatever takes the fancy. I hope you enjoy reading what I have to share.
